IMMIGRATION PROGRAMS Temporary Resident Permit (TRP)
Temporary Resident Permit is issued to people, who are inadmissible but whose presence is necessary in Canada or not detrimental to Canada . TRP is issued to overcome an inadmissibility faced by a person (may be due to medical reasons, criminal convictions or other security issues).
This is also referred to as ‘Minister’s permit’ – the Minister is personally required to approve an application for TRP. Needless to say, it is an extremely rare visa. Persons admitted under the TRP enjoy many social benefits, and are also eligible for PR status after certain period.
