This Federal program under the Economic category allows current and past temporary residents (Temporary Foreign Workers and International Students) of Canada to apply for permanent residence.

CEC is based on a Pass/Fail test, vis-à-vis other programs that are based on Points system. The well-defined, objective criteria are expected to enable conclusion of majority of Applications quickly (and hopefully, without the need for personal interview)

The Program has 2 streams:

• Temporary Foreign Worker Stream - for Temporary Foreign Worker
• Post-Graduation Stream - for International Students, who have recently graduated from a Canadian educational institution

General Requirements:

The Applicant must have had a valid temporary status during the qualifying period.

• The Applicant must have had a valid temporary status during the qualifying period.
• The Applicant must demonstrate proficiency in English or French language to the level required
• Current valid status or your presence in Canada at the time of Application is not a requirement for this program

Temporary Foreign Worker Stream:

The Applicant must meet the following requirements to qualify under this stream:

• Worked in Canada for a period of at least 24 months in the last 3 years
• The occupation must be included in NOC Skill level 0, OR A/B
• Must achieve a minimum score of 7 or 5 bands in the IELTS test, depending upon their occupation

Post-Graduation Stream:

The Applicant must meet the following requirements to qualify under this stream:

• Have completed a course of study of at least 2 years duration in Canada and obtained an educational credential
• Were physically present in Canada at the time of your studies on a valid study visa
• Have worked in Canada for a period of at least 12 months in the last 2 years, after completing the above studies. (Co-op or Off-campus work experience is not considered in the above)
• The occupation must be included in NOC Skill level 0, OR A/B
• Must achieve a minimum score of 7 or 5 bands in the IELTS test, depending upon their occupation
