There are 2 broad categories of programs:

1. Economic Classes: People being admitted based on their ability to become economically established in Canada. People in a wide variety of occupations/ professions, can qualify under this group either as
• Federal Skilled Worker category - Professionals and people with transferable skills. The selection system is based on the number of points scored on selection factors
• Businessman - People with previous business management experience
• Investors – High Net Worth Individuals, willing to make passive investments
• Canada Experience Class - People who have previously been (or at present are) working in Canada. This includes Temporary Foreign Workers and International Students


2. Family Class: This is the group of people admitted to Canada as permanent residents, by virtue of their relationship with and sponsorship by a Canadian citizen/ permanent resident. Generally, wife, dependant children, parents, grandparents and vice-versa can be sponsored under the family class
