Each program is geared to satisfy different needs of the society as a whole by way of immigration.
Broadly, the immigration programs can be classified as follows:
- Federal immigration programs
- Provincial Nominee programs (PNP) – administered by various Provinces (states)
- Quebec immigration program – administered by Quebec
The immigrants coming to Canada under a federal immigration program are free to go to any part of Canada , whereas those coming via a PNP or Quebec program are encouraged (and required, at least initially) to go to the respective province.
